2010 SPRING-SUMMER EVENTS CALENDAR

June 19 and June 20

“La Notte Rosa” (Pink Night) 3rd Edition
This year's event will use the winning formula of  the previous edition, a "pink” route that, through music, literature, theater, art and fashion, will get people on the streets and every place will come alive with entertainment. For the viewers this will be a virtual journey in the female universe that will last from dawn to dusk and on through the night till the day after. In fact, this year one of the  news is that the event will last two days. Like a real "Summer New Year",the “Notte Rosa” is the beginning of the high touristic season of the city.

Word & Sound Show
The show, called "Word & Sound", will last for fifteen evenings, and it is designed as a weekly Friday appointment. Alex Nocco and Shary will perform on May 14, Marica della Torre on May 21, Kosmik on May 28, Simone Stefanizzi on June 4, Miss Mykela on June 11, Antonio Candido Jr on June 18, Cesare dell'Anna on June 25, Michele Calogiuri on July 2, Vera di Lecce  on July 9, Daniele Leucci on July 16, Valentina Grande on July 30, Vera di Lecce  on August 6, Gianluca Milanese on August 13, Cesare dell'Anna on August 20 and Michele Calogiuri on August 27.
The show is organized by "Stemax SnC, Cristian Carpientieri and Alessandro Stefani, in cooperation with the Municipality of Otranto.

“Otranto Arts Residency”
Two groups of independent American artists will be hosted at the Castle. For four days the artists' studios will be open to the public in order for their work to be shared with everybody.

AAA Exibition, American Abstract Artist "The abstraction seen by a cosmopolitan"
With vernissage Saturday, June 19 2010.
The exhibition includes 50 works by the American Abstract Artist Association of New York, founded in 1936 to promote displaying and understanding of abstract art.
Otranto is the first stage of a the European exhibition, chosen and strongly desired by artists for the direct link between the exhibits and the cave paintings from the nearby Grotta dei Cervi, Cave of the Stags.

"The night of Isabella"
During the Notte Rosa (Pink Night), che Castle will remain open as a tribute to the protagonist of the novel by Horace Walpole, “The Castle of Otranto”.

“Sete di Radio (Thirst of Radio) Tour 2010 – RadioNorba”
Six hours of live coverage on RadioNorba of the city of Otranto, where a real radio studio will be set up and in which two of the most important Italian artists – invited by RadioNorba and TeleNorba -  will alternate performances during the two days. They are top chart artists!

“OFFF Filmfest” 2nd Edition

Otranto becomes a meeting place for European film productions made with the support of local public funds, in order to make the most from the territory, not only from a touristic point of view, but also considering the great historical heritage and the cultural diversity of the European regions. The exhibition includes a section dedicated to the famous fellow artist Carmelo Bene. The event will start on the evening of July 9 with a concert by the Orchestra Sinfonica of Lecce, directed by Jose Maria Sciutto, with Oscar Luis Bacalov at the piano.

Exhibition area “Sulle Orme di Pratt” (In the Footsteps of Pratt)
The exhibition entitled “Sulle Orme di Pratt” will be held in the picturesque taverns of  Carlo Cego – Torre Matta arcade, and original comic drawings of the famous Venetian masters Lele Vianello and Guido Fuga Lele, that worked with Hugo Pratt, whose death anniversary will be observed in 2010.

July 16 - 17 and 18

“Libri in Scena” (Books on stage)
It's a book exhibit devoted primarily to local authors and publishers, but also to all those who, feeling somehow connected to our land, have demonstrated with their work to love it deeply.
A great stand, set up in Largo Porta Alfonsina, will host several books publishers. During the exhibit, meetings with the authors will be scheduled and many other initiatives will take place, like  musical representations, cultural representations and plays. A major show will be closing the exhibition. There will be a section devoted to comics where it will be possible to meet with the Venetian master cartoonists Guido Fuga and Lele Vianello, authors of “Cubana”.
The young readers will find a place for them, with books, street artist shows and teaching laboratories.
The event is organized by the Art'Etica Cultural Association, winner of the Bollenti Spiriti notice, and with the collaboration of the municipality of Otranto.

July 23 – 24 and 25

“Otranto Jazz Festival” 2nd Edition
The City will come to life thanks to the help of the great national and international jazz artists and the concerts, workshops, happy hours, street bands, parties, DJs, exhibitions and hospitality village.
Among the guests of the second edition: Silvano Borzacchiello 5ett, X-Press Trio, Gege Telesforo So Cool 5ett, Barioca 4ett, Bebo Ferra Circe Trio, Eddie Gomez 5ett Francesco Negro 4ett, Oxyd and Tuck & Patti.
From July 22 to 25, there will be held seminars and master classes for professionals and jazz enthusiasts with the teachers of the best international jazz schools.
In addition, from July 19 to 25 July, at the Carlo Cego – Torre Matta arcade, it will be possible to visit the photo-painting exhibit of the famous artist Alessandro Curadi.
The event is organized by the Otranto Jazz Festival Cultural Association, in cooperation with the municipal administration of Otranto.

It's the result of the Bollenti Spiriti laboratory, with the performance of the “ArtEticOrchestra” musicians. The Conductor will be Claudio First, leader of the band "BandAdriatica" and the main host of the event is Raiz, former singer of the Almamegretta.
The event is organized by the Art'Etica Cultural Association, winner of the Bollenti Spiriti notice,  and in collaboration with the municipal administration.

“Summer Festival dei 5 Continenti La Ghironda” (La Ghironda 5 Continents Summer Festival) 14th edition
The Summer Festival “La Ghironda "is an exhibition of the International Art and Popular Culture of the five Continents and whose aim is to promote the meeting of different cultures through music and art from around the world. It consists of music concerts and various performances where dancing, acting and gestures are interwoven with the music, creating an indissoluble unity.
